Identification Guide for Dies of One Cent Design U92

There are five dies for the one cent value of design U92. They can perhaps best be identified by the process of elimination.
   First, die 5 has a very narrow "C" in "CENTS" and "O" in "POSTAGE".
   Second, the hair at the rear of Franklin's neck protrudes much more in die 3 than in the other four dies.
   Third and fourth, "UNITED" is nearer the inner circle in die 1 and closer to the outer circle in die 4.
   Fifth, die 2 has neither of the prominent features of dies 5 or 3, and "UNITED" is more or less centered between the two circles.

die 2
(1) "UNITED" is more or less centered between the two circles;
(2) the "C" in "CENTS" and the "O" in "POSTAGE" are well rounded (i.e., not oval);
(3) the hair at the rear of Franklin's neck does not protrude significantly (i.e., it resembles the hair in dies 1, 4, and 5). (This die is very uncommon to rare.)
